Our Story

The story of Eureka Distilling is a classic Australian tale of evolution, scientific curiosity, and a bold leap from the industrial streets of Sydney's Inner West to a historic riverside destination on the banks of the Hunter River.

The Genesis & Evolution

The journey began a decade ago as Mobius Distilling Co. Operating out of a character-filled urban space in Sydney’s craft-distilling heartland, the distillery was built on a rigorous goal: crafting premium, small-batch spirits. To bring these creations to a wider audience, Mobius evolved, rebranding as Eureka while keeping its core philosophy intact.

Award-Winning Craft

Long before the rebrand, Eureka's liquids spoke for themselves, earning major trophies at the prestigious Melbourne Royal Australian Distilled Spirits Awards, including:

  • Champion Vodka: For the ultra-smooth 38 Special Vodka (now anchoring the Sydney Standard line).

  • Champion Liqueur (Twice): For Moreau Apple Pie Liqueur, celebrated by critics as "apple pie in a glass."

  • Gold Distinction: The first Australian Limoncello to take home gold at these awards.

Our portfolio is completed by an inventive portfolio into three dedicated lines:

  • The Staples: Sydney Standard Vodka and Sydney Standard Dry Gin, focusing on accessible premium quality for the wholesale market.

  • Eureka Gin Range: Featuring bold botanical profiles like Finger Lime, Saltbush, and Citrus & Black Cardamom.

  • The Experimental Lab: Science-leaning, avant-garde releases like Pythagoras Pineapple Rum and Newton Tawny Cask Single Malt and our newly released Lamar Single Malt… with more to come

A New Life for a Morpeth Landmark

Housed within the Old Bond Store Swan Street, the Eureka Tasting Room breathes new life into one of Morpeth’s most character-filled buildings. Once a cornerstone of the village’s trading past, the bond store now serves as a meeting place for craftsmanship and connection — a bridge between Morpeth’s rich history and its vibrant future.

Exposed brick, timber beams, and original heritage details set the stage for honouring the past whilst celebrating the future of Australian craft spirits. The space reflects everything Eureka stands for — authenticity, creativity, and community.

Every visit is an experience — part distillery showcase, part community hub, and entirely inspired by the beauty of our region.
